About

A safe place to practise ETRM.

Most people learn energy trading and risk management on the job, inside systems they can't experiment with. ETRMPractice changes that.

Why it exists

Learn by doing, at your own pace.

Analysts, testers and support staff are expected to understand trade lifecycles, controls and settlement long before they can touch a live system. Documentation explains the concepts but rarely lets you try them. ETRMPractice pairs short explanations with tasks you complete yourself, on prepared synthetic data.

Everything is designed to be used on your own. There’s no personal coaching, and ETRMPractice doesn’t offer certification or employment outcomes.

Who it’s for

The roles around the trading desk.

Business analysts, testers and QA analysts, support analysts and people moving into ETRM — anyone who designs, tests or supports trading and risk systems without necessarily working on the desk.

Teams can use it as a shared starting point for onboarding. Each person works in their own practice workspace.

Principles

Vendor-neutral

Workflows and terminology are taught in general industry terms. ETRMPractice isn’t a copy of, or training for, any particular ETRM or CTRM product, and isn’t affiliated with any vendor, exchange or publisher mentioned on this site.

Synthetic by design

Market profiles, counterparties, contracts and prices are invented for teaching. Teaching contracts aren’t exchange products.

No market advice

ETRMPractice teaches workflows. It doesn’t publish market commentary, trading advice or regulatory interpretation.
